SUPERMIND decision-method note. The examples are hypothetical and apply no country-specific rules. No investment recommendation, observed client outcome or completed simulation is claimed.
Define the alternatives before comparing them
A capacity decision might offer three paths: build now, release investment in stages, or improve the existing operation while waiting. Give each path a consistent boundary: required resources, time to delivery, operating dependencies and what remains reversible. Otherwise, an apparently attractive option may simply omit a difficult cost or constraint.
Ask how the other parties can respond
A proposed expansion can change a competitor’s pricing incentives, a supplier’s capacity allocation or a customer’s negotiating position. Treat these as alternative reactions to examine. Record the evidence behind each actor description, then ask how one reaction could affect the next. A generated response is a hypothesis, not proof of future behavior.
Write the conditions that release the next commitment
For a hypothetical staged investment, the next tranche might depend on verified demand and delivery readiness. Specify which evidence would satisfy those conditions, who reviews it and when a decision is due. Avoid treating a positive conversation, an unsigned pipeline or simulated enthusiasm as a confirmed order.
Make waiting and stopping legitimate outcomes
A decision review should explain what supports proceeding, what requires a smaller commitment and what would justify pausing or stopping. Waiting preserves flexibility but can also carry opportunity costs; describe both. The value of the review is a defensible choice under stated conditions, rather than a preference for action at any cost.
Close with an owned action and a review point
A useful decision card names the proposed choice, supporting evidence, unresolved assumptions, change conditions and the next action owner. Pair it with a verification plan and a review date. Keep financial analysis, specialist opinions and scenario outputs distinguishable so the management team can challenge each on its own terms.
